Pennsylvania has signed into law legislation which, based on APA's recommendations, raises funding for public education by nearly $275 million -- an historic increase for the state.  The state also adopted APA's recommendations on how the money can most effectively be distributed to school districts.  These recommendations include recognizing higher costs associated with helping children in poverty and English language learners achieve state performance standards.  They also include cost adjustments that recognize differences in district size and regional cost of living. "In 2005, Jobs for the Future needed an answer to the question: 'What is the long-term return on investment in early college high schools?' We selected Augenblick, Palaich and Associates as our partners. The collaboration has given us a great deal of insight into the costs and benefits of early college high schools. APA also has helped us share the results of their work with our network: state and district policymakers and national school developers who are interested in expanding 'early college high schools.'"
